PolyCert Europe and CITEO host webinar on claiming France's recycled plastic bonus

Free live session on 9 November explains what converters, recyclers and brand owners must prove to earn up to €550 per tonne

Brussels, 27 October 2026 — Since 1 January 2026, France's eco-modulation scheme has rewarded household packaging containing post-consumer recycled plastic. CITEO pays €450 per tonne of recycled content for open-loop material and €550 per tonne for closed-loop material (household packaging recycled back into household packaging). The bonus covers PET, LDPE, HDPE, PP and PS.

To qualify, sorting, recycling and conversion must all take place in an eligible country within 1,500 km of Montluçon, the recycling yield must exceed 50%, and the packaging must not carry a sortability or recyclability penalty. Converters must also hold an EN 15343 traceability certificate, under RecyClass Recycled Plastic, PolyCert Europe or ISCC PLUS, and upload it to CITEO's platform to claim the bonus on 2026 sales.

Many companies know the incentive exists, but few know what evidence it requires. To help close that gap, PolyCert Europe and CITEO will co-host French Ecomodulation in Practice, a free webinar on 9 November 2026, 11:00–12:00 (CET). The session will cover:

  1. Eligible plastics, bonus levels and conditions
  2. How the 1,500 km rule is verified and how waste origin is documented
  3. Accepted certification schemes
  4. What recyclers and converters must state on certificates and what brand owners must upload
  5. Live Q&A

The webinar is aimed at plastic packaging converters supplying the French market. It is also relevant to brand owners, retailers, recyclers, certification bodies and scheme owners.
